Terms of Service

By accessing or using the LoreAtlas application and website (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. LoreAtlas is operated by LoreAtlas, based in Los Angeles, California.

LoreAtlas is a GPS-powered city discovery app that documents heritage sites, architecture, food history, and hidden stories across Los Angeles. The App provides editorial content about real-world locations, GPS-based discovery features, walking routes, and premium content packs.

LoreAtlas is an editorial and entertainment product. It is not a navigation app, a safety tool, or a substitute for professional guidance of any kind.

Eligibility: You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you may use the App with the consent of a parent or guardian.

Account: You may create an account using your email address. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree not to share your account or use another person's account without permission.

Acceptable Use: You agree to use the App for its intended purpose: exploring and learning about places in Los Angeles. You agree not to:

• Reproduce, redistribute, or resell our content without permission
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the App's data or source code
• Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws
• Interfere with the App's operation or other users' experience
• Submit false corrections, fake reports, or misleading feedback
• Use the App while driving or in any situation where it could create a safety hazard

Your Safety Is Your Responsibility: LoreAtlas helps you discover places. What you do when you get there is up to you.

• Always be aware of your surroundings. Do not look at your phone while crossing streets, walking near traffic, or navigating unfamiliar areas.
• Do not trespass. Some documented sites are private property, closed to the public, or have restricted access. A site appearing in the App does not mean you are permitted to enter it.
• Use common sense. If a location doesn't feel safe, leave.
• Hours and access change. Information in the App may not reflect current conditions. Verify before visiting.
• Walking routes are suggestions, not directions. Use a navigation app for actual directions. We do not guarantee that any route is safe, accessible, or free of obstacles.

LoreAtlas is not responsible for any injury, loss, damage, or harm that occurs while you are using the App or visiting a site documented in the App. You use the App and visit locations entirely at your own risk.

Our Content: All editorial content in the App — including site descriptions, historical narratives, editorial commentary, walking route intros, illustrations, and the EIC's Notes — is original work created by LoreAtlas and protected by copyright. You may share individual site links or screenshots for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Accuracy: We strive to make our content accurate, well-researched, and clearly labeled. However:

• Our content is editorial in nature and not intended as professional historical, architectural, or cultural advice.
• “Lore” is in the name for a reason. Some content draws on local legend, oral history, unverified accounts, and editorial interpretation.
• Information changes. Businesses close, buildings get demolished, hours change. We update regularly but cannot guarantee every detail is current.
• Ghost ratings and “somatic” descriptions are editorial entertainment, not claims of paranormal activity.

User-Submitted Content: If you submit corrections, feedback, or suggestions, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that information to improve the App.

LoreAtlas offers premium content packs as one-time purchases ($3.99–$6.99). We may also offer a subscription tier ('Field Agent') providing access to all premium content. All purchases are processed by Stripe.

All sales of digital content are generally final. However, if you experience a technical issue that prevents you from accessing content you paid for, contact support@getloreatlas.com and we will work to resolve it or provide a refund where appropriate.

Promo codes are subject to expiration, may be limited in quantity, and may not be combined with other offers.

The App, its design, code, editorial content, illustrations, branding, and the LoreAtlas name and logo are our property and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

The watercolor illustrations are AI-generated images created by LoreAtlas using specific style prompts. They are part of the App's visual identity and may not be reproduced or extracted without permission.

The App uses your device's GPS to show nearby sites and track visited places. Location processing occurs on your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

GPS accuracy varies by device and environment. In dense urban areas, signals may be less accurate. The proximity radius is an estimate, not a precise measurement. GPS features consume battery and may use mobile data.

Walking routes are editorially curated suggestions. They are not turn-by-turn navigation.

• Estimated times assume ~3 mph and do not account for stops, traffic, terrain, or accessibility barriers
• We do not guarantee any route is safe, accessible, or passable
• Always use your own judgment and a navigation app for actual directions

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time for conduct that violates these Terms, including scraping content, abusing promo codes, submitting false reports, or interfering with the App. If your account is terminated for violations, refunds will not be provided. You may delete your own account at any time by contacting support@getloreatlas.com.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to preserve access to purchased content. If we permanently discontinue the App, we will provide notice.

We are not liable for failures or delays due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, infrastructure failures, government actions, pandemics, or third-party service outages.

Before pursuing any formal dispute, contact support@getloreatlas.com to attempt informal resolution. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve your concern within 30 days.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and LoreAtlas agree to resolve any claims through binding arbitration on an individual basis, administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in Los Angeles County, California.

You and LoreAtlas agree that any dispute resolution will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class action, class arbitration, or any other representative proceeding. You waive any right to participate in a class action against LoreAtlas.

Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court if the claim qualifies. You may opt out of arbitration by sending notice to support@getloreatlas.com within 30 days of first using the App.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LoreAtlas from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party rights, your negligence, or any third-party claims related to your use of the App.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the 'Last Updated' date at the top. For material changes, we will notify you via email or through a notice in the App.
